What to Expect:
Early Start: Begin your day with a 6 AM pick-up from your centrally-located hotel in Nairobi, followed by a scenic 3.5-hour drive to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, where you'll pass through beautiful coffee and tea estates.
Chimpanzee Sanctuary
Your first stop will be at the sanctuary, home to chimpanzees rescued from West and Central Africa. Here, you can observe some of the 38 chimpanzees in their natural enclosures and watch them at a feeding platform.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After the sanctuary, venture into the Ol Pejeta Conservancy for a game drive across expansive plains. This area is known for its diverse wildlife, including rare species such as wild dogs, zebras, cheetahs, and hartebeests, along with the "Big Five": lion, Cape buffalo, African elephant, leopard, and rhinoceros. Enjoy lunch at one of the lodges within the sanctuary (at your own expense).
Cultural Experience: Post-lunch, visit a rhino homestead and a manyatta, which is a replica of a traditional Kenyan homestead. Here, you can learn about the cultures of the Maasai, Polot, Turkana, and Samburu. Engage with local villagers, witness traditional homes and dances, and shop for unique souvenirs.
Return Trip: In the mid-afternoon, begin your journey back to Nairobi, concluding the tour with drop-off at your accommodations around 6:30 PM.
