Layover Activities in Nairobi

🔹 Short Layover (4–6 Hours)
Ideal if you don’t want to go too far from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA):

1. Nairobi National Park (Quick Safari)
Only 15–20 minutes from the airport.

Perfect for a mini-safari – you can spot lions, rhinos, giraffes, and more.

Consider a 3-4 hour guided game drive.

Morning or late afternoon is best for sightings.

2. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Elephant Orphanage)
See rescued baby elephants up close.

Open daily from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM (must arrive before 11).

You’ll need to book in advance.

3. Giraffe Centre
Feed endangered Rothschild giraffes by hand.

Great for photos and quick visit (1 hour is plenty).

Located in Karen, about 40-50 mins from the airport (pair it with Sheldrick if you have enough time).

4. Carnivore Restaurant
If you’re hungry, this iconic Nairobi spot is famous for its wide range of grilled meats.

30–40 mins from JKIA.
