7 Days 6 Nights Amboseli and Nairobi City Tour Excursions
Day 1: Arrival & Transfer to Amboseli National Park
Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be warmly welcomed and begin your journey south to Amboseli National Park, a 4-5 hour scenic drive through the Kenyan countryside. After checking into your lodge or camp, you'll have time to relax and soak in the panoramic views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak. If time allows, enjoy a short evening game drive to spot some of the park’s famed wildlife including elephants, wildebeests, and gazelles. The day ends with dinner and overnight stay under the stars in the African wilderness.
Day 2: Full-Day Exploration in Amboseli National Park
Spend the day exploring the vast landscapes of Amboseli on morning and afternoon game drives. The park is famous for its large herds of free-roaming elephants, often photographed with snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the background. You may also encounter lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and numerous bird species in the park’s swamps and savannahs. In between drives, relax at your lodge or enjoy a sundowner while watching the golden African sunset. Optional cultural visits to a local Maasai village can also be arranged to learn about traditional customs and lifestyles.
Day 3: Nairobi National Park, David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust & Giraffe Centre
After breakfast, depart Amboseli and head back to Nairobi. Begin your Nairobi experience with a morning game drive in Nairobi National Park, the only national park in the world located within a capital city, where you might spot lions, rhinos, giraffes, and zebras roaming against the city skyline. Next, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, where you’ll get to see orphaned baby elephants being fed and cared for. Continue to the Giraffe Centre, home to the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, where you’ll get a chance to feed and interact with these graceful giants from a raised platform.
Day 4: Kobe Tough Beads Factory Tour
This day is dedicated to a unique cultural experience at the Kobe Tough bead factory in Karen. Here, local women—many of whom are single mothers or survivors of hardship—handcraft stunning ceramic beads and jewelry. Tour the facility to see the entire process from clay shaping to kiln firing and bead painting. Engage with the artisans, learn about their stories, and support their work by shopping for authentic Kenyan souvenirs that empower communities through sustainable employment.
Day 5: Kibera Slum Tour & Karen Blixen Museum
In the morning, embark on a guided tour of Kibera, one of Africa’s largest informal settlements. Led by knowledgeable local guides, this eye-opening tour provides insight into the community’s resilience, creativity, and daily life. You’ll visit schools, community projects, and local businesses while gaining a new perspective on urban Kenya. In the afternoon, explore the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the Danish author of Out of Africa. Set in beautiful gardens at the foot of the Ngong Hills, the museum offers a glimpse into colonial-era Kenya and Blixen’s life and literary legacy.
Day 6: Nairobi City Tour, Nairobi National Museum & Snake Park
Dive into the heart of Kenya’s capital with a full-day Nairobi city tour. Visit iconic sites such as Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), City Market, and the August 7th Memorial Park. In the afternoon, explore the Nairobi National Museum, which houses fascinating exhibits on Kenya’s history, cultures, paleontology, and wildlife. Next door, the Snake Park offers a closer look at East Africa’s reptiles including pythons, cobras, crocodiles, and tortoises—perfect for nature enthusiasts seeking something off the beaten path.
