Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve (Evening Game Drive)
Upon arrival, you will be picked. The journey to Maasai Mara takes about 5-6 hours and offers breathtaking scenery, including the stunning Great Rift Valley escarpment. A brief stop at the Rift Valley Viewpoint allows for a spectacular panoramic view and photo opportunities before proceeding with the drive. You will pass through Narok town, a cultural and economic hub for the Maasai community, where you can observe local markets bustling with activity. Arriving at Maasai Mara around midday, you will check in to your safari lodge or tented camp and enjoy a delicious lunch. After some time to rest, the excitement truly begins with an evening game drive. This is an excellent opportunity to witness the diverse wildlife of Maasai Mara, which includes lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, and an array of antelope species. As the sun sets over the savannah, the golden hues create a mesmerizing backdrop, perfect for photography. After which you return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an overnight stay, immersing yourself in the sounds of the African wilderness.
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara National Reserve
The day begins early with a hearty breakfast, preparing you for a thrilling full-day game drive across Maasai Mara’s expansive landscapes, you will venture deep into the reserve, following the trails of the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros—alongside numerous other species such as giraffes, zebras, and gazelles. If your visit coincides with the Great Migration (July-October), you might witness thousands of wildebeests and zebras crossing the Mara River, an awe-inspiring spectacle filled with drama as crocodiles and predators lurk nearby. A picnic lunch will be served in the heart of the reserve, often at a designated scenic spot where you can take in the serene beauty of the park while surrounded by wildlife. The afternoon continues with more game viewing, exploring different regions of the reserve, including the Mara River, where hippos and crocodiles thrive. As the sun begins to set, you will return to your lodge or camp for a well-deserved dinner and relaxation, reminiscing about the incredible wildlife encounters of the day.
Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve to Lake Nakuru National Park(Game Drive)
After an early breakfast, you will check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, a journey that takes about 5-6 hours. Along the way, enjoy scenic landscapes, including rolling hills and picturesque farmlands. Upon arrival at Lake Nakuru, you will have lunch at a restaurant and embark on an exciting midday game drive, exploring the park's diverse ecosystems. Lake Nakuru is renowned for its stunning pink flamingos that line the shores, along with abundant wildlife, including white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, leopards, and lions. In the evening go back to the hotel and enjoy dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Lake Nakuru National Park to Lake Naivasha
In the morning, wake up and enjoy a hot breakfast followed by check out. Head to Naivasha which is about an hours’ drive. Check in, enjoy the amenities as you prepare to go for a boat ride and nature walk along the Lake Naivasha. Make sure to spot hippos, zebras, giraffes, flamingos and different bird species that call the lake home. In the evening head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay
Day 5: Lake Naivasha to Amboseli (Evening Game Drive)
Following breakfast, you will check out and embark on the journey to Amboseli National Park, a drive of approximately 5-6 hours. Along the way, you will pass through the vibrant town of Mai Mahiu and other rural settlements, offering glimpses of local life. Arriving in Amboseli in the afternoon, you will check in at your lodge or tented camp and have lunch before heading out for an evening game drive. Amboseli is famously known for its large elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak. The evening game drive provides an opportunity to observe elephants roaming freely against the iconic backdrop of the snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Other wildlife sightings may include cheetahs, hyenas, wildebeests, zebras, and an array of bird species. As the sun sets over the savannah, the golden-orange hues create a spectacular scene. After the game drive, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Amboseli
You will start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a full-day game drive in Amboseli. This national park is one of the best places in Africa to observe elephants up close, as large herds move gracefully across the plains. The game drive will take you to various sections of the park, including Observation Hill, which provides panoramic views of Amboseli’s swamps, lakes, and wildlife. Amboseli’s wetlands, fed by underground streams from Kilimanjaro’s glaciers, attract diverse wildlife, making it a hotspot for photographers and nature lovers. Expect to see lions, cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, and numerous bird species. You will stop for a picnic lunch in a scenic location within the park before continuing the drive, exploring more regions and tracking different animals. As the afternoon winds down, you will return to your lodge for dinner and a final night under the African sky.
Day 7: Amboseli to Nairobi
After an early breakfast, you will check out and begin the journey back to Nairobi, approximately a 4-5 hours’ drive. Along the way, you may spot more wildlife near the park’s exit and enjoy final glimpses of Mount Kilimanjaro, depending on weather conditions. You will arrive in Nairobi around midday, concluding your unforgettable 6-day safari adventure. Get dropped off at the airport to catch flight.
